HD Brows.

Can you bloody believe I haven't ever gone and properly talked about HD Brow'ing on here? As a bonafide brow obsessive I've even shocked myself a little bit.

So ladies & gents, let me present my two pennies worth about being HD in the Brow department. So, what makes HD'ing better than just waxing/tweezing/threading/filling etc etc. Well to cut a long story short it's all of these techniques rolled into one. Overkill? Never.

So, we're talking.

Step 1. Prep & Assess. A quick chat about what you want to achieve. I discussed how dark I wanted to go & my main goals (neat defined brows but keeping the natural thickness).
Step 2. Tinting. This time I went for a black tint which when it was first suggested made me wince a little bit, but when I discussed which brow powder I usually go for, was assured it was the best choice.
Step 3. Waxing.
Step 4. Trimming. All hair is brushed up and the longest ones are trimmed down.
Step 5. Threading. Used to make sure even the shorted hair is caught! Definitely the most uncomfortable part but not unbearable.
Step 6. Tweezing. Getting rid of those pesky strays!
Step 7. Finishing touches. Powder or pencil to fill in any gaps.

So, how did it work for me?

BEFORE.

Looking slightly unruly & wild...

AFTER.

They're defined, neat and tidy but don't look too 'done'. Exactly what I wanted. It may seem like a lot of work for two small bit of hair over your eyebrows, but hey, I'm a brow girl.
My HD Brows cost £20 but cost can vary. If you're trying to get some real shape back in your brows or are preparing for a special occasion/wedding etc. I couldn't recommend it more.

Are you in the HD brigade?

How Much Is My Face Worth?

I've seen this post floating around recently and I found them all really interesting. I decided this might be a good motivator for my self imposed beauty spending ban.

So lets see how expensive my everyday face is!

Origins Vitazing £27.00
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural £21.00
YSL Creme de Blush in Rose £29.00
ELF Mineral Blush in Coral £5.00
*HD Brow Palette in Vamp £16.63
*HD Brow Beater £14.95
*Blink + Go Long Lasting Mascara £12.95
*All for Eve, Eve's Balm £4.95

Grand Total:

£135.67

I must admit, I'm a little shocked by how much just a very basic face of make up appears to cost! If you added in the eyeshadow/primer/lipstick etc that I usually chuck on if I'm going out, the cost soon escalates.

A definite motivator to keep using up my products and downsize my collection!

How much is your face worth?

'No Make Up Make Up'

As the weather gradually warms up, I always find myself drifting away from la slap.

I rely on a few lifesaving products whenever I want to look polished, but not 'done'. It's the perfect look if you're on holiday, having a relaxed day, or even if you want to pull off the "I'm just this naturally beautiful" look when you're with that special someone.

I wear this look a lot, It works for me and it's a quick and easy cheat.

Quick Fire Review: HD Brow Beater

HD Brow Beater. Is is really better than a clear mascara?

Honest Answer.

I really can't tell, but I like it.

This product claims to set brows into place and even claims that over time it will train your brows into their correct position over time.

It's slipped very easily into my daily routine as it takes seconds to brush through your brows. I use it with the HD Brow Palette in Vamp & I'm pleased with the results.

My only gripe is that if you apply a bit too liberally it can cause the brow powder you've just applied to smudge, not a good look.

I have had a few compliments about my brows since I've used it, but I'm not sure I can attribute it simply to the Brow Beater.

It's a nice product and for a girl who never used to 'set my brows' it's a step I'll continue to keep up. Whether I'll fork out £14.95 for a replacement tube when this runs out, we'll see...

Happy Birthday Glossybox.

Happy Birthday Glossybox!

This month marks the 1st Anniversary of the little pink box landing on our doorsteps, and Glossybox are feeling in the party mood, including a pink balloon (posed ridiculously by me here) and a cute compact mirror that has landed straight into my handbag.

So, what's in my Glossybox this month?

Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel (Full Size: 250ml £20.00)
Lolita Lempicka L'Eau en Blanc & Eau en Parfum (Full Size: £65 100ml)
Apivita Express Beauty Mask Moisturising & Nourishing Mask with Honey (Full Size: £3.50 per sachet)
HD Brows Brow Beater (Full Size: £29.95)
Berber Oil Hair Treatment (£19.99 100ml)

Compared to my rave about last months box, I wasn't immediately shouting from the rooftops about this box. But, on closer inspection there are a few gems. I was immidiately excited about the HD Brows box that   was nestled in the corner, but my information card told me it was one thing 'grow baby grow' and described an eye cream...I got Brow Beater, work that one out!

I'm excited to try the Brow Beater but time will tell whether it really is more than a glorified clear mascara.
The winner in this box has to be the Berber Oil. I'm a sucker for hair/skin/body oil at the moment and the fact that it smells like pic n mix was the icing on the synthetic cherry scented cake.

There seems to be mixed opinions about perfume samples in Glossybox but I personally don't mind them as they're useful to sling in my gym bag for an emergency scent. Neither Lolita Fragrance hit any high notes with me, but I do prefer the L'Eau en Blanc as the Eau de Parfum reminds me of Matey Bubblebath....

You can never go wrong with a good shower gel sample, and I adore these for either going away or for showering post work out. The Noble Isle scent smells heavenly and I adore the concept of celebrating British culture and nature. Summer Rising Cornish Hedgerows will do me just fine!

Finally, I'm looking forward to treating myself with an Apivita Express Beauty Mask. The mention of honey, moisture and nourishment are music to my ears, so I can't wait to pop this on and see how it fairs.

Overall,

I'm not jumping for joy about this months offering, but that's what makes Glossybox so fun. You open up your box every month to a five little surprises, win some or lose some you're sure to find a gem or two. Over the past year I've discovered some wonderful products that I simply wouldn't have touched if they hadn't come crashing through my letterbox via Glossybox.

Bravo Glossybox. Here's to another great year!

Daily Make Up.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 1.
MAC Zoom Lash Mascara.
MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Moisturising Face Base*.
HD Brow Palette in Vamp*.
MAC Creamblend Blush in So Sweet, So Easy.
Urban Decay Quickie Blush.
Korres Lip Butter in Plum*.

This is what's on my face today...I did it in about 10 minutes flat, hence not actually showing my face today! The Korres Lip Butter really makes the biggest difference, when applied carefully it gives a healthy stain to the lip, almost like I've consumed a whole punnet of raspberries and blackberries, bliss.
I've cracked out a few old favourites and neglected products, Quickie Blush used to be my staple, but I'm far more inclined to go down a peach/coral route for the cheeks now. Paired with So Sweet, So Easy, it made a nice pink change!
What have you worn on your face today?
