The Nail Update: Summer.

3 for 2 knocked at the door, I bought three, plus one...

I don't know if it's the burst of sunshine that the UK has been basking in, or the sudden desire to get a bit tropical in the nail department but brights are firmly back on my talons.

Yes, I know it's not a tropical explosion of colour but it's the pretty pink nude I've been craving for an age. After previous perilous experiences with the Essie nude family (I'm looking at you Sugar Daddy) I was slightly dubious about taking the plunge, but it really is a beaut. Three coats and your away.

Even the name makes me want to swing in hammock on a tropical island with cocktail in hand. Consistancy wise the Gelly range is magic. Two coats and you've got the perfect shiny nails that far outshine their affordable price point. Bravo. The colour is the perfect bright peach, If you're not too keen on going all out this is the perfect gateway polish to brights.

This polish strikes the perfect balance between a pastel mint and a bright turquoise. It's tropical party in a bottle. What makes this even more of a winner is the wide brush and foolproof application. For Lazy Susan's like me this is holy grail.

The Ice Neon drew me in, the bottle promised wonders. It delivered a bit of a damp squib. I will concede that I've only tried it on a bare nail and maybe a white undercoat with pep this up. I'm hoping this will deliver the neon pop it promised once I've given it a proper whirl!

What are you sporting this summer?

The Spring Update.

For the first time this week - hold your breath - I went without the usual trillion and went a bit wild. I braved it in just a jumper and a gilet. Hold me back. In my book that means spring has finally arrived in some shape or form. No snow & a splash of sunshine? Spring time.

In order to motivate myself to add an extra spring to my step (sorry), I've enlisted the help of some rather beautiful little additions.

The Nail Update.

Like most of the universe, I've got a serious mint fetish at the moment. If it's mint, I'm there. I took this a step further recently and popped Models Own Apple Pie Nail Polish into my basket. Whilst I'm not overly sold on the 'smell my fingers' aspect of the polish, it's the perfect milky mint shade. It doesn't take a serious amount of work to get an even finish and it lasts pretty well. The scent is rather pleasant too, if a tad bizarre.

The Phone Update.

I've been living with the same mock croc leather case for about a year now (girl, you classy.) but spring called for a fresh new look. I need to drag the ol' iPhone into the sunshine with me. Enter this candy cane Kate Spade* wonder. It's a little bulkier than I'm used to, but my phone already feel snug as a bug in it's new silicone and acrylic rug. It's light, fresh and oh so spring/summer.

The Accessory Update.

I hit up Forever 21 at the Trafford Centre a couple of weeks ago and as per made a beeline for the shiny things. I came away with a big pack of stacker rings but I mainly bought it for the gold square beauty and it's silver cousin. Simplicity is key my friend. I couldn't leave behind the amazing if slightly fang-like earrings. They just spoke to me, ok?

What are you updating for Spring?

*Phone case kindly provided for consideration, the rest is all on me!

New Nail Treats.

As I've been worshipping at the alter of Shellac for a wee while, I've not indulged in any new nail polish. But,  I missed chopping and changing my nail colour so decided to take a break from Shellac and hit up Boots.

I went for...

I'm a bit obsessed with the Essie shade right now, so much so that the others have only had a slight look in. I will add that Ibiza Mix = Disappointing. Far too sheer and watery, it takes about 4 coats to just achieve a slight glitter nail. When I do glitter, I mean glitter. Bitch.

Over & Out.

Princess Nails.

As previously mentioned in the last post, I'm slightly obsessed with Models Own Pink Fizz at the moment.

If you add Deborah Lipmann's Polish in Before He Cheats, the result is surprisingly wearable Princess Nails! Apologies for the awful winter cuticles...I've misplaced my Wonderbalm and it's killing me.

It's a match made in sugar sweet heaven and makes a welcome change from my usual dark winter nail, the only downfall? You will find yourself staring at aforementioned glitter nail and making it sparkle in the light, possibly not one for those with attention issues...(myself included).
